5 Major Bugs Of Google Pixel 6 And Pixel 6 Pro

The Pixel smartphones from Google have a loyal fanbase. However, Google has been unable to propel Pixel phones into the stratosphere of premium flagships, which are now dominated by Samsung and Apple. This changed when Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro debuted in the market.

Even though Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro phones are the flagship phones from the brand, they also have some bugs which irritate the users. Here we will discuss 5 major bugs on the Google Pixel phone and the measures to resolve them.

1.Dirty Pipe exploit

It is a major vulnerability that is seen in the latest version of the Linux kernel which means it will automatically affect Android 12 devices. Since Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro has the latest android 12 they are also affected by this exploit. Since Samsung rolled out the revised kernel for the S22 series we can expect the same for Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro in April patch update. Unfortunately, the release of Android 12 QPR3 beta 2 just a few days later indicated that the majority of customers will have to wait much longer.

How to Fix the Pixel 6’s Dirty Pipe Exploit?

If you’re worried about Dirty Pipe on your Pixel 6, you’ll have to join Google’s beta program and download Android 12 QPR3 beta 2 right now. However, even the firm admits that it isn’t a stable build, so it isn’t a fix that will function for everyone. The revised kernel contained in this beta software is a preview of June’s Feature Drop, thus it’s uncertain if it will be on phones in May or June. But Google did not state anything about this bug.

If you do not want to install these beta versions on your Pixel 6, there are a few actions you can do to reduce your risk as much as possible. You should install apps available in the Play Store only and apps from unknown resources should be avoided. Keep a watch out for future Google patches; it’s always conceivable that another unexpected mid-month upgrade may hit phones in the coming weeks.

2.Sluggish fingerprint sensor

Even though the fingerprint scanner of Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is outstanding hardware, sometimes it does not work properly. It gets sluggish and uneven. Some customers have reported that their device may be opened with other people’s fingerprints, Google claims that the slow sensor is due to “heightened security.” Biometrics has also stopped working for certain Pixel 6 customers once the battery has been depleted, necessitating a factory reset to get them working again.

A software update was rolled out in November which solved this problem of fingerprint sensor. It’s available for unlocked and certain carrier smartphones, with all other Pixel 6 phones receiving the update via the (now-removed) December patch or the January follow-up.

3.Delayed updates

Google Pixel phones never get an update on time. But the February patch was rolled out at the scheduled time, but it brought an unfixed Wi-Fi problem. The March update that was supposed to fix the problem was delayed, marking the fourth time a patch was either absent or withheld for Google’s newest devices, according to our tally.

How to Resolve the Pixel 6’s Delay in Receiving Updates ?

Great news: the March update is now available, putting it two weeks ahead of April. It appears to be a stable update that fixes the annoying Wi-Fi glitch while also bringing Google’s newest phones up to date. Fortunately, the April patch came without any issues and delays. It’s the developers who roll out the update. If they finish their work on time we will get it on time.

4.Display freezes randomly.

Whenever the battery life on the Pixel 6 decreases by a percentage the display freezes approximately for 2 seconds and during this period the device does not take any input. Based on what you’re doing when the battery level eventually drops, this problem might be aggravating or utterly intolerable.

The fix: Turning off all accessibility services, including Voice Access, solves the problem, although that’s a bit severe. After a month Google accepted it as a flaw and stated that it will be solved in the upcoming software update. Unfortunately, this problem was not fixed by the February patch.

5.Wi-Fi signal struggles

Many users have complained about the new Wi-Fi bug on Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. They say that sometimes Wi-Fi turns off automatically even after turning it on. Some have even reported that along with Wi-Fi Bluetooth also gets disabled. This issue was brought about by the February security patch which arrived at the scheduled time.

On Reddit via the Pixel Community account, Google said that this issue is seen only on a few devices. This problem has been resolved by Google’s March update. Even though the update was late it was worth waiting for it. If you’re still having problems with Wi-Fi reception, ensure sure your software is up to current.

These are the main problems/bugs that are seen in the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. There are many more bugs present on these devices which we hope will be resolved in the upcoming updates.
