The New Samsung 55″ Curved Monitor: Odyssey Ark

The largest gaming monitor made by Samsung measures a staggering 49 inches, making it among the largest ones available right now. But when contrasted to its brand-new 55-inch Odyssey Ark, 49 inches will feel little.

The Odyssey Ark, which was first displayed at CES this year, makes use of a quantum mini-LED screen with a 1000R curve. That display provides a 165Hz refresh rate, a 1 millisecond reaction time, a 4K resolution, and HDR10+. As a result, players won’t need to be concerned about lag interfering with their ability to see everything well while playing.

The Odyssey Ark will feature AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for variable refresh rate at the top to having a high refresh rate (VRR). VRR is essential for preserving a silky smooth, artifact-free picture when playing games by removing screen rips.

The 6 speakers that come with the display are an additional great feature. On most other monitors, audio is typically considered a secondary consideration; not so with the Odyssey Ark. Samsung created the Odyssey Ark to immerse the customer in a dome of sound, with speakers on each side of the display and two woofers. Additionally, Dolby Atmos audio will be included to further enhance the audio quality.

 More Features of Odyssey Ark

Samsung has you covered if you intend to use the display for purposes other than gaming. The user has complete control over content resizing and movement on the screen thanks to its Multi-View mode. Additionally, you are able to run up to three different programs simultaneously.

There are more interesting characteristics than the display and sound, though. The Odyssey Ark’s ability to swivel the display into a portrait angle is one of its most distinctive features. In this posture, aptly referred to as “Cockpit Mode,” the display curls over your head to simulate being in a cockpit.

The display also includes Samsung Gaming Hub, a framework that allows quick and simple access to consoles and game streaming services like Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The Odyssey Ark is currently up for preorder and will go on sale in the middle of September with a $3,500 price tag.

Although the Odyssey Ark seems fantastic, $3,500 is a sizable commitment for anyone. Does anyone actually require a monitor that may be twice as large and pricey as their living room TV? A TV might be a better option if all you’re after is size and image quality.
